Our Royal Celebration

The night before the big wedding we put together royal crowns using recycled cardboard, tin foil, and the cracked up shells from our leftover Easter eggs.

I thought I was being so clever using this natural alternative to glitter.  The verdict: the shells made just as much mess as real glitter.

For the early morning crowd I served Friendship Tea.

Here is the recipe we used:
1 3/4 c. Tang
1/2 c. sugar
1 pkg. dry lemonade mix, without sugar
1 c. instant tea, plain
1/2 tsp. cinnamon
1/2 tsp. cloves
1/8 tsp. allspice

Mix all ingredients thoroughly. Put 1 or 2 teaspoons of friendship tea into a cup and add boiling water.
When I first got them out of bed, the kids could barely keep their eyes open.

When the horse and carriage traveled to Buckingham for the reception we were all totally awake and into the scene.

By the time we hit dinner hour, and the kids were beside themselves tired, I questioned my rationale in waking them so early.  But, really, I think it was worth the special memories made.
