How Does Pooh Speak to You?

Each night before bed the kids and I snuggle together on the couch to read. We have always enjoyed a variety of beautiful picture books. Recently, however, I introduced them to the wonderful world of chapter books. We started with Grampa’s favorite, The Box Car Children; then we read Daddy’s favorite, The Littles. Tonight we started one of my faves, Winnie-the-Pooh. Already the kids seem to be enjoying the silly old bear’s adventures. When I am reading Pooh my mind wonders as I contemplate the "deeper meanings" as they apply to my life.
Regardless of your interpretation here are my favorite Pooh-isms, from Chapter 1, for you to consider.

“I do remember, and then when I try to remember, I forget.” ~Pooh
Don't you hate it when this happens!

“I have just been thinking, and I have come to a very important decision.” ~Pooh
When it comes to making ANY decision I think and think and think. My problem is that even after all the thinking, debating, discussing, and listing I struggle to MAKE the very important decision. Kevin and I balance each other out in the decision making business as he is more likely to make the important decisions without doing the necessary thinking.

"How long does getting thin take?" asked Pooh anxiously. "About a week I should think."
Don't I wish???

“Pooh was getting rather tired by this time, so that is why he sang a Complaining Song.” ~Christopher Robin
Oh boy, I know I tune up for the Complaining Song when I don't get enough sleep! Do you know what triggers your Complaining Song? Maybe by identifying it, we can avoid it.

  2. Ah, the joys of Pooh. I can relate when it comes to making decisions. As far as complaining goes I think Elizabeth was very insightful when she said earlier today: "I'm not complaining Daddy, I'm just whining!"
