Learning Objective:
The kids will draw basic shapes: circles, squares, triangles, rectangles, and diamonds
Materials:
large piece of wax paper or white construction paper
finger paint (see recipe below)
1. Mix finger pain
2. Allow kids to explore with finger paint
3. Show examples of specific shapes in the finger paint
4. Ask children to name the shapes
5. Ask kids to reproduce the shapes in the paint
Recipe: Soap Suds Finger Paint
~soap flakes (Ivory) - not detergent
~water
Add equal amounts of soap and water in a bowl. Beat until stiff (like egg whites). Add powdered paint flakes. Cleans up very easily with water!

Gavin and I did a similar activity this week. Instead of the finger paint we used pudding. Instead of shapes, Gavin practiced reproducing the numbers 1-20.
