Last Week's Highlights

There is nothing really big or exciting going on in the Meyering home lately, but we did have some moments to note last week.

1. Finished my classes!!!
2. Gavin made his own bed every morning
3. We all participated in the Plunge and helped with a spring yard clean up
4. Practiced dancing for the last time in the Civic Center
5. Spread another 3 yards of bark...
6. Visited Dutch Village
7. Finished painting the trim in the dining room
8. First Captain Sundae run of the season

We are looking forward to the fun and excitement coming to Holland this week with the start of Tulip Time.

A Landscaper's Weekend Labor

Gavin and Kevin spread 5 yards of bark this weekend. What a world of difference a new layer of ground cover makes!
Kevin also got the waterfall up and going again. I love the sound of the water running out our kitchen window!
The fire pit is all cleaned out and ready for the first cook out of the season. We are looking forward to enjoying our backyard getaway!

That's Not Funny

"Sometimes the best laughter occurs when you are trying not to laugh. In fact, it often happens when you are tyring your best to be serious and respectful, but somehow your funny bone gets tickled and it's all over but the laughter at that point. This tradition is designed to get your family laughing together!"

I was searching for a fun tradition to start with the kids for the month of April when I came across this idea. It was intended to be an April Fool's Day activity, but I think it would be silly fun to try anytime. I wonder if the kids will get it? I am sure Kevin and I will be hysterical! (Reminds me of the old favorite laughing game from orientation days at Hope...)

Have all your family members sit in a circle with their heads bowed. At the count of 3 everyone must look up and look directly into the eyes of another family member. There are 3 rules that apply to this game:
1. No Talking
2. No Smiling
3. No Laughing
You can only talk if you see anyone with even the slightest grin. Point at them and shout, "That's Not Funny!" (Continue playing until you really can play without smiling at all).

Give it a try and let me know how it works with your family -hee! hee!
