Settling In

A short week ago today our baby boy was born. How quickly the time went by! Since then we have begun to adjust to life as a family of 5.

Sunday AM Gibson was born
Sunday PM he met his brother and sister for the first time, as well as his grandparents

Monday AM our baby had his first check up with the doctor
Monday PM we introduced Gibson to his new home & he met his "Gramma Great"

Tuesday AM we woke up in our house together for the first time
Tuesday PM the home nurse came to assess Gibson's weight loss and jaundice

Wednesday AM Gavin went to preschool to share all of his excitement with his teacher and friends
Wednesday PM a family grocery store adventure (complete with 2 carts - YIKES!)

Thursday AM visit #2 from the home nurse for Gibson, and visit to Grandma's house for Gavin and Anne Hope
Thursday PM Gibson was admitted to the hospital

Friday was a full day of light treatment and doctor pokes for Gibson:( & playing with Gram for Gavin and Anne Hope:)

Saturday AM Gibson met his own pediatrician for the first time before heading home
Saturday PM we all enjoyed a visit with some good friends

In the midst of our week we attempted to take advantage of a few winks of sleep, Gavin hugs, Anne Hope kisses, and Gibson snuggles! As I realize today how quickly the first week went by I am reminded of how important it is to appreciate each moment with our little ones.
Are we completely settled in?
No.
Little by little we are settling.

  1. Just as your title reminds me every time I look at your blog...."making the most of every moment"
Good for you Katie that you can keep that perspective in the midst of change, lack of sleep, joy and chaos!
Blessings to you and your family.

  2. Wow, what a week! I am so glad to hear that Gibson is home and that you can attempt to get back to normal. I absolutely LOVE the picture of him. How precious!

  3. Hi Guys,
We are praying for this young man! And for mom and dad! What a wonderful thing to know we can lean on the Lord for comfort, patience and strength. Just imagine those without the Hope we have.
Katie, take every chance to rest you can get. You deserve it.
Settling in can take some time. But you guys have what it takes to 'make all things work together for good!'

    Love,

    Rj and Arelys
