A List Maker's Life: Basking

Friday, November 7, 2008

Mr. Gibson has been struggling with jaundice since his journey into the world. The home nurse has been keeping track of his biliruben levels daily and advising us on the best ways to help him "beat the bili." One of the home remedies suggested as being most effective is full skin exposure to the sun. Gibson spent several hours this morning moving from window to window in our home taking advantage of the unseasonably sunny skies. Despite our best efforts, after reviewing his latest lab results our Dr. made the decision to put our babe in the hospital. His jaundice, as well as continued daily weight loss, reached a high risk level. Sweet Gibson is now basking in phototherapy light with his first sun shades. He and mommy will be in the hospital together until he is gaining weight and has a healthy color.

  1. What a precious little man! Katie, we are praying that the bili levels will continue to drop and that Gibson will be home soon. AND that his mommy will be able to get some much needed rest. :) Sweetie, there is never a dull moment at your house, is there? We love you!

  2. Gavin gave me the low down in school today!
I will keep your sweet family in my prayers.

Thanks for taking a moment to comment. I love to hear from you!
