"Ball Class"

This winter Gavin and Kevin are participating in a program called "Start Smart" through the Holland Recreation Program. The purpose of the class is for 3-4 year olds and their parents to begin working together on the basic skills in all sports: throwing, hitting, catching, and kicking. There are coaches at each center helping the kids learn the correct form and position for each of these skills.

Last night's agenda included:
*warm up stretches & jumping jacks
*station 1: batting practice off a tee
*station 2: stopping & scooping up ground balls
*water break
*station 3: underhand tossing with Koosh balls
*station 4: stopping a moving soccer ball and kicking it back to a partner
*hop, skip, sprint races

I was glad to be able to get away from my Thursday night classwork for a bit to see the guys in action. Fun! Gavin seems to really enjoy his participation in this program and I am quite sure Kevin enjoys being there with him.

  1. HiGavin,

That looks like so much fun.
    What do you like best?
    running, kicking, or throwing?
    What cool colored balls. They
remind me of the beach. With all
the snow outside it is great to think about the beach and summer.
    Love you!

  2. You all just watch....Gavin is gonna be as talented as his great uncle! Or maybe even as talented as his Grampa! WOW!

Thanks for taking a moment to comment. I love to hear from you!
